⛽ Fuel Cost Calculator
Introduction
This Fuel Cost Calculator helps you estimate the total cost of fuel for your trip, the amount of fuel required, and the cost per mile or kilometer. With flexible unit selection (mi/km, MPG/L/100km/km/L) and 100+ world currencies including PKR, it's perfect for international travelers and professionals.
How to Use This Calculator
- Enter Distance – choose miles or kilometers.
- Enter Efficiency – select MPG, L/100km, or km/L.
- Enter Price – cost per gallon or liter (auto‑matched).
- Select Currency – from 100+ currencies including PKR.
- Click “Calculate Cost” – view total cost, fuel needed, and cost per unit distance.
How the Calculation Works
For MPG (miles per gallon):
- Fuel needed (gal) = Distance (mi) ÷ MPG
- Total cost = Fuel needed × Price per gallon
- Cost per mile = Total cost ÷ Distance (mi)
For L/100km (liters per 100 km):
- Fuel needed (L) = (Distance (km) × L/100km) ÷ 100
- Total cost = Fuel needed × Price per liter
- Cost per km = Total cost ÷ Distance (km)
For km/L (kilometers per liter):
- Fuel needed (L) = Distance (km) ÷ km/L
- Total cost = Fuel needed × Price per liter
- Cost per km = Total cost ÷ Distance (km)
All results are rounded to 2 decimal places. The price unit (gallon/liter) automatically matches your efficiency unit selection for accuracy.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between MPG, L/100km, and km/L?
MPG (miles per gallon) is US/UK measure: higher is better. L/100km is metric: lower is better. km/L (kilometers per liter) is also metric: higher is better. This calculator supports all three.
Can I use this for electric vehicles?
This calculator is designed for combustion vehicles. For EVs, you'd need battery efficiency (kWh/100km) and electricity cost per kWh – we may add that in future.
Is the result accurate for round trips?
Yes – just enter the total round-trip distance and the calculator will give you the total fuel cost for the entire journey.
What if my vehicle uses different units?
Simply choose the correct distance unit, efficiency unit, and price unit (gallon/liter). The calculator handles all conversions internally.
Why does the cost per distance change?
The cost per mile/km depends on fuel efficiency and price, not distance. However, total cost increases proportionally with distance.
Can I save my calculation?
Use the “Copy Result” button to copy the total cost and breakdown to your clipboard for use in spreadsheets or notes.
